Material Controller

Location: Plymouth

Job type: Full-time Permanent

Shift pattern: Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00 (40 hours- flexible start & finish times)

Job summary

Burts are looking for a Material Controller with a positive attitude who has a desire to learn and works well within a small team. The role involves maintaining the production schedules in order to maximise factory efficiency and attainment to plan. To ensure that the correct materials, in support of the plan are on site when required. To align material due dates and escalate where support is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Production to support attaining the fixed plan work orders.
  • Daily modification of the plan due to changing circumstances within the manufacturing site.
  • Place purchase orders in support
  • Analyse the MUV report and adjust PO’s to ensure material alignment
  • Call materials to site. Ensuring that deliveries are within the sites storage capacities and plan requirements.
  • Manage the planned work orders. Report any plan misses and production deviations.
  • Contact suppliers to align purchase orders to the plan and forecast.
  • Immediately escalate any plan failings or material misalignments when your options have been exhausted.
  • Build effective working relationships with the shift managers and team leaders.
  • Attend daily 9am Operations meeting
  • Attend the weekly Forward Planning meeting
  • Willing to support cross functionally

Salary: £25,000.00 per year


Requirements:

Essential:

  • Knowledge & experience using excel is essential
  • Ability to work with large quantities of data
  • Detail conscious and numerically accurate
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent Organisational & Interpersonal Skills

Desirable:

  • Process driven
  • Procurement experience preferable
  • Sage experience is beneficial
  • Manufacturing experience preferred but not essential
