Shift Maintenance Engineer

Location: Plymouth

Job type: Full-time permanent

Shift pattern: Thursday-Saturday 06:00-18:00 and alternate Sundays 07:00-15:00

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer the support the efficient running of the Burts factory through both maintenance and reactive repair. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience within fast-paced environments and be able to hit the ground running, with the support of department associates and the wider business.

  • Carry out reactive maintenance to all plant, equipment, services and buildings as required, to include fault finding and repairs.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and monitoring as per schedules
  • Assist with developing and implementing line improvements, new installations, off line repairs, planned maintenance and any other tasks deemed appropriate by the Engineering Manager.
  • Record and communicate all findings.
  • Assist with projects and the installation and commissioning of new plant.
  • Liaise with outside contractors where required.
  • Work with team leaders and the management team to ensure targets are met on safety, quality, output, efficiency, energy and waste.
  • Communicate effectively with the Engineering Manager on all engineering and production issues.
  • Assist in controlling department budgets.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a flexible role in the operation, covering scheduled holidays, additional hours, absences and call outs where required.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Highly motivated with excellent planning skills, problem-solving, positive and proactive attitude.
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments like Food Manufacturing and FMCG.

Desirable:

  • Electrical bias is favourable. A good level of electrical competence at minimum but applicants with mechanical bias are still accepted.
