Day Shift Maintenance Engineer

Location: Plymouth

Job type: Permanent

Shift pattern: 40 hrs, as required
Thursday – Saturday 6.00am – 6.00pm
1 in 2 Sundays 7.00am – 3.00pm

Job summary

To support the efficient running of the factory through maintenance and reactive repair.

  • The engineer’s priority is to attend to the plant’s reactive needs whilst progressing other repairs and projects as required. These include pro-active tasks to include projects, line improvements, off line repairs, planned maintenance and any other tasks deemed appropriate by the Engineering Manager.
  • Electrical bias is favourable, good level of electrical competence at minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out reactive maintenance to all plant, equipment, services and buildings as required, to include fault finding and repairs.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and monitoring as per schedules
  • Assist with developing and implementing line improvements.
  • Record and communicate all findings.
  • Assist with projects and the installation and commissioning of new plant.
  • Liaise with outside contractors where required.
  • Work with team leaders and the management team to ensure targets are met on safety, quality, output, efficiency, energy and waste.
  • Communicate effectively with the Engineering Manager on all engineering and production issues.
  • Assist in controlling department budgets.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a flexible role in the operation, covering scheduled holidays, additional hours, absences and call outs where required.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • A background or knowledge in electrical engineering
  • Able to communicate well both verbally and written
  • Proven experience in maintenance engineering or a related field
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Desirable:

  • Experience with welding and fabrication
